"Yesterday was a treat. I got to sit in on a rehearsal at Cal State Fullerton with the amazing Dr. Gregory X. Whitmore and his University Symphonic Winds. They're premiering my piece Light The Night Sky this Sunday. It's always a revelation to rehearse with Gregg - my comments and critiques are turned into results pretty much immediately, and half the time I don't even need to make the critique because he's already heard it and addressed it before I can even say it. Pretty great!"
Composer Larry Tuttle (April, 2025)
"I haven’t been at the SCSBOA Conference for more than 40 minutes, and my eyes are already leaking. The CSUF Symphonic Winds’ performance of Eric Whitacre’s setting of Goodnight Moon was every strain of joy I share with kiddos at bedtime. Brava Dr. Joni Prado and congratulations Dr. Gregory X. Whitmore on that sublime and sweet musical moment."
Conductor Daniel Magallanes (February, 2025)
"I just listened again to your recording [of Frank Duarte's Song for Mother Gaia] with the CSUF Symphonic Winds. Very musical and classy!"
Conductor Stephen Rochford (June, 2023)
"I also wanted to take this time to thank you for your endless support on my journey to the teaching profession. I really enjoyed learning about your insight and knowledge in all of your classes. Your passion and enthusiasm especially in the Zoom setting kept me going in even the hardest of times. I can’t thank you enough."

"I really had a great time with the group today. I’d just like to say Dr. Whitmore, you are an amazing educator. I was honored to get to see the way that you taught and guided the ensemble, and I was very impressed with how detailed you were. Everything you noticed and pointed out about the piece was spot on, and it felt great to have someone like yourself really dig into it ."

"WOW!!! What a truly fantastic performance of the work! In fact, this is the finest performance by a high school level group of "Carnival". Congratulations to you and the students. I loved the tempo and energy. Plus your conducting was amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. Bravo to you and the fine ensemble!."

..."Next we had a clinic with Dr. Gregory X. Whitmore. Any of you in the LA area, or any who might travel there, I highly recommend Dr. Whitmore as a clinician. His highly positive, musical approach was most impressive. My kids (and I) had a great time and learned more about what it takes to be not only a player, but a musician."

Pacific Symphony Youth Wind Ensemble 10th Anniversary Video Tribute

"Maestro Whitmore warms up the Cathedral City musicians. Then they began to play and music lived as it was meant to live. Rich, precise canopies of colorful sounds and feelings were voluptuously and elegantly projected flowing over the audience like the sea. Those who heard their 20 minutes of three selections will not soon forget the tempos, the power and the precise control of this band."
